Happy Mother's Day to Me
Here is what happened to my dessert for Mother's Day dinner just after I spent a half hour preparing it. Stupid springboard pan!!

Tegeder Happenings
Erica turns 20 months in a few days. I am definitely not sad (yet) that she is growing up. This is so much better than the newborn stage. Now that we are in 100 degree weather, we will spend most of our days swimming. She loves the water. We have a 1,000 gallon pool that goes up to her shoulders. We tested it out yesterday and she did great. She even fell under the water a few times, but laughed when she came up.
She is really trying to talk all the time now. She mimics a lot of what we say. She knows about 8 of her letters, the rainbow colors, the word "backpack" and many others. She likes to assign an owner to every object we see. Also, she has a list of people we constantly run through to see where they are at - school, home, work, sleeping, etc. We go through this list all day long. We've now hit the limit on my knowledge of signs. There are many times she learns the word to a new object and looks to me for the sign. I usually don't know anymore, so she resorts to making her own up. That makes it harder to figure out what she is talking about later.
Other things going on - Kayla likes to hunt for lizards in our backyard.
We like to hunt for scorpions (and KILL them) in our backyard. We found this one a few nights ago. These things are already scary, but when I think of what they can do to Erica, it makes me sick.
Erica is making good use of the dirt before we cover it over with grass.
Elmo and Barney are her favorites. We listen to Elmo songs at least 100 times a day. You think I am exaggerating, but I am not.

Between work, church and being sick, Troy has still managed to find time to work on the backyard. His latest project is putting decorative rock on the retaining wall. I love it. Also, Troy just got promoted at work, so we are very excited and grateful.

Feeling Old
- This month marks my 5 year anniversary for Law School Graduation.
- This month marks my 10 year anniversary for College Graduation.
- I get aches and pains all over my body after playing a simple game of tennis.
- I just watched "17 Again" and the flashback to the main character's high school was my actual high school experience.

Quick Trip to Utah
Troy, Erica and I made a quick weekend trip to Utah in order to attend Grandma Tegeder's funeral. It was a bittersweet time - it was great to see family, but we missed Grandma. Here are some pictures from the trip.
We flew in Friday morning, the day of the funeral. Erica enjoying the airplanes at the airport.

Grandpa Tegeder used to be head of the deaf school in Ogden, so some deaf friends showed up to the funeral. Troy's sister, Molly, was able to interpret for them.
After the funeral, we had a nice dinner at the church. Here is Troy's dad and Grandpa.
That weekend, Troy's entire immediate family stayed at his cousin's house in Kaysville. It was so nice to have a place where everyone was together. Erica absolutely adored her cousins and had a great time playing with them. They were so cute with her too.
The next day we went to Sonja's wedding shower at Aunt Jane's house. She is getting married in a few weeks. We will be leaving for Seattle soon. Can't wait.
After the shower we had a family dinner with the Tegeder side.
On Sunday, everyone started leaving town. We went to visit Grandpa one more time before heading home.

Grandma Tegeder
Troy's paternal grandmother passed away on Tuesday. We will be making a quick trip to Utah this weekend to attend her funeral. She was a wonderful lady, but we are grateful that she is no longer suffering and has returned to a better place. We love you Grandma!! Her obituary is below.
E. Bernice Korsmeyer Tegeder1923 – 2009
E. Bernice Korsmeyer Tegeder, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on April 21, 2009 at the age of 85 following a short illness from complications related to a colon infection.
She was born on September 21, 1923 at Meredosia, Illinois to Charles Louis Korsmeyer and Bertha Johanna Lovekamp Korsmeyer. She attended MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois—the first in her family to attend college. Her education was interrupted during WWII as she accepted an assignment from Morgan County, Illinois, to be a war-time school teacher in a one-room schoolhouse. Because education was important to her, she was very proud that all four of her children graduated from college. She also worked as a bank teller in Meredosia.
In 1950 she began a 58 and a half year marriage to her teenage sweetheart, Robert William Tegeder. They began their life together in Detroit, Michigan; moved to Ogden, Utah in 1957; and settled in Clearfield, Utah, in 1978. She devoted her life to caring for her husband and children.
She and her family lived on the campus of the Utah Schools for the Deaf and Blind in Ogden while her husband was the Superintendent from 1960 to 1978. During that time, she tirelessly and faithfully performed the duties as the unofficial First Lady of the Schools. She was the hostess to visiting educators and administrators, and she supported and attended countless school functions and events. She was also an avid sports fan, always rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals, the Jazz and Weber State.
She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, and was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ogden, for 52 years, the entire time she lived in Utah. While her children attended St. Paul Lutheran School, she was the organist for the weekly chapel services and yearly school operettas.
She is survived by her loving husband, four children, Robert William Tegeder, Jr., (Wendy) of Renton, Washington; Marjorie Ruth Tegeder of Clearfield; Jane Ellen Cameron (Randy) of Salt Lake City; and Alice Ann Peterson (Randy) of Boise, Idaho; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her only sibling, Mabel Louise (Korsmeyer) Staake.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 24, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 3329 Harrison Blvd. in Ogden, Utah. Friends may call at the church on Friday one hour prior to services. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 North Fairfield Road A viewing will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. County Fair
On Monday we took Erica to the county fair. She LOVED it way more than I thought she would. Thank goodness our neighbors were with us because Erica was too short to ride alone and I was too big to get on the rides. So, Erica got to try her first rides with ney-ney. I am surprised she didn't get scared. In fact, she was smiling most of the time.

Easter
Our Easter was complete with Easter baskets in the morning (filled mostly with candy, but also a shape puzzle, shape/color flashcards and an Elmo coloring book), coloring eggs with the neighbors, church, having dinner with some friends and then an Easter egg hunt. Erica had one too many M&Ms and was bouncing off the walls for most of the day. I've never seen her so hyper. Of course, candy was the first thing she asked for when she woke up the following morning.
