Welcome to Motherhood...

So I was enjoying a little awake time with Erica the other day. I was laying on my back with my knees propped up. I had Erica sitting on my stomach, leaned back against my legs. She was making those cute little gas smiles and even some cute little gas sounds. Well, let's just say that in all the baby books I read to prepare for this, no one mentioned that these little diapers don't fit so well and can slide off the baby's little bum quite easily. Needless to say, I ended up with poop all over me. More pictures are coming soon (but not of this experience).

39 Weeks...and Counting...and Counting...

I was hoping that I wouldn't make it another 4 weeks since the last posting, but here we are a little bit bigger and no baby yet. (You can probably tell the smile is really forced). Although this is probably the worst month of my pregnancy due to being uncomfortable and hot, I really can't complain too much. I've had a very easy pregnancy and I'm happy to be able to have a little girl soon - we hope!

To keep busy while we wait, Troy just bought a new work desk and is very excited to finally have a "workshop" where he can do all his projects.

Tucson Wildlife

Arizona has this great Desert Museum where you can check out tons of desert wildlife. We just went there on Saturday night and here are some of the highlights.

The Scorpions!!!! I had to make these pictures large so you could see them. They are only about the size of your thumb. The first picture was taken with a flash (so it looks like daylight), but if you look close, you can see it just under the left side of the pinkish/purplish rock.

This next picture was taken of the same scorpion, but without a flash. I am shining a black light on it, which makes them glow in the dark. There's something in their exoskeleton that makes them do this. Feel free to comment if you can shed more light on this amazing phenomenon.

We also saw a couple of tarantulas roaming free through the museum. Yes, that is my hand that close to the spider. Troy was very proud of me.

We also saw a live demonstration on venomous reptiles in the region. We didn't get pictures of the gila monster/lizard, but this was a diamondback rattlesnake from only a few feet away.

And finally, Troy caught a baby lizard in our backyard.

Sorry for the millions of postings all at once, but I don't know when or if I'll get another chance for awhile. These are some pictures of the latest monsoon storm. We took them from our front yard. The pictures don't do it justice, but we still thought they were pretty cool.
