If you had $500 to spend on a trip to anywhere you wanted to go, where would it be? (The rules of this hypothetical are that you actually have to spend it on a trip.)
Vegas, BABY! You could spent the money on gas and pull your boat OR cheap arline tickets; stay at the Barlow hotel for FREE; eat out every meal to avoid the Barlow hotel meal-time chaos; and float in the Barlow hotel pool.
hmm...does it have to cover the entire costs? if so, then I suppose we wouldn't get very far. So I am really like the previous comment about paying a babysitter and going camping.
But if I really could choose anywhere and miraculously $500 would cover it all, I would choose New Zealand.
I guess hypothetically $500 would cover everything?? If so, then Hawaii, Europe, Ireland, New Zealand...there are lots. In the states: New York. Or CA. There you go!
I'd drive to SLC. Visit Grandmother in the hospital & play guitar. See if a relative will watch Erica so you can go spring snowboarding. OK, that's what I'd do,...if I could snowboard. - Dad
You could go "camp" at Lake Apache! Stay in the resort and go skiing. It's supposed to be pretty warm. Or CA and visit your bro. I can't wait to go to Disney.
Disneyland, Grand Canyon, Sedona all are great suggestions and really fun. Sedona has great food and beautiful scenery and it not too far from slide rock, which is a fun place to play in the water, which would be a little cold still this time of the year. There are also great jeep tours of the area. The Grand Canyon has great tours too and they also have cool helicopter tours that would eat most of the $500. Arizona has lots of great places to go and see and by driving and keeping somewhat close, you can keep it around the $500 dollar mark! We do a lot of camping with our trailer (okay more luxurious camping) and find a central location, like Flagstaff, and go to all the things to do and see around that area. That is how we saw lots of indian ruins, sunrise crater, walnut canyon, the Grand Canyon, although I would love to have stayed at the Canyon itself for a couple of days. Sedona is one of my all time favorite places and so is Pinetop. Also, if you want some travel tips for some really cool places in New Mexico, let me know!

Oh, but if you were asking what I would do . . . I would pay someone to babysit my kids and go camping with my hubby.

I'm guessing that the hypothetical is leaving from where you live, right?
$500. I would either go to a resort in Mexico for 3 days. You might be able to pull this one off for less than $500.
OR camping at the Grand Canyon is fun.
OR Baja California! I heard there are some really cheap hotels. You could drive down the coast.

Erik just suggest Havasupi. Or Sedona. Don't fly to Vegas from where you live. Unless you have your own plane.

Anywhere but this messy house!
Puerto Vallarta!
Houston, TX. Everything is bigger in Texas including the size of the fun you would have.
